Agnès Bénassy-Quéré was appointed second deputy governor of the Banque de France on Wednesday by the Council of Ministers, effective Monday February 27. She replaces Sylvie Goulard, who left her post on December 5, 2022 to join the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

A graduate of ESCP Business School with a doctorate in economics, she has been Chief Economist at the French Treasury since June 2020.

"Her rich career path has already led her to work alongside us, as a member of our General Council (2015-2020) and the High Council for Financial Stability. We are therefore delighted that Agnès Bénassy-Quéré is joining us. Her economic expertise, her European and international network, and her experience of economic policies will bring a great deal to the Banque de France. We extend a warm welcome to her!"commented François Villeroy de Galhau, Governor of the Banque de France, on Linkedin.
