From this year, providers of extra-financial ratings operating in the European Union (EU) will be supervised by Esma. This new regulation, aimed at greater transparency and better management of conflicts of interest, should accelerate consolidation in the sector. From now on, Esma will supervise ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) rating agencies operating in the European Union.
